ABOUT BISLEY

The Gloucestershire village of Bisley is a real community village, surrounded by history, from the houses and buildings, to the traditions and historic connections.

There is Ascension Day or Well Dressing, Flower show and ball, the cricket, amateur dramatics, Mummers play, Fun days, open gardens, to name but a few of the community events.

​

Historic connections include The Bisley Boy (reputed to be Queen Elizabeth I) and the Gunpowder Plot ( thought to have been plotted at nearby Lypiatt Park).

Buildings of interest include The Bear Inn (dating back to at least 1766 ), which used to be the old court house, and it used the Lock-up as a place of temporary confinement.
